Maxime Vachier-Lagrave Becomes 2021 Sinquefield Cup Winner

The 2021 Sinquefield Cup, the final event of the Grand Chess Tour series, finished in Saint Louis. 

Having got 6 points out of 9, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave became the winner of the super tournament. During the event, the French grandmaster defeated Peter Svidler, Sam Shankland, Dariusz Swiercz, and Jeffery Xiong.  

The US grandmasters Fabiano Caruana, Leinier Dominguez, and Wesley So shared 2-4 places with 5.5 points scored by each. 

Final standings:

1. Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (France) - 6 points out of 9
T-2. Fabiano Caruana, Leinier Dominguez, Wesley So (all from the USA) - 5.5
5. Richard Rapport (Hungary) - 4.5
T-6. Jeffery Xiong (USA), Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (Azerbaijan), Sam Shankland (USA) - 4
9. Peter Svidler (Russia) - 3.5
10. Dariusz Swiercz (USA) - 2.5.

Wesley So has become the Grand Chess Tour winner with 36.6 GCT points scored. Maxime Vachier-Lagrave is on second place with 35 points. Shakhriyar Mamedyarov is third with 26.5 points.
