Lindores Abbey Rapid Challenge: Hikaru Nakamura Beats Magnus Carlsen in Semifinal
The Nakamura vs Dubov final will start on June 1.
The semifinals of the Lindores Abbey Rapid Challenge finished on Chess24.com.
On the third matchday, Magnus Carlsen and Hikaru Nakamura made it to the Armageddon. The encounter started with a draw, then Nakamura won with the White pieces, but Carlsen fought back in the next game. The fourth battle was drawn.
The world champion, who had White in the "sudden death" game, got an advantage but didn't find the precise way to convert it. On the 40th move, Carlsen blundered a rook and soon resigned. Having won two matches out of three, Nakamura advanced to the final.
The final match Nakamura vs Dubov will start on June 1.
