Kateryna Lagno Defeats Ju Wenjun at FIDE WGP Leg in Skolkovo

Humpy Koneru becomes the sole leader.


The ninth round of the FIDE Women's Grand Prix leg was played in the Skolkovo business centre on September 20. 

The women's world champion Ju Wenjun (China) lost Kateryna Lagno (Russia) so that Humpy Koneru (India) has become the sole leader after defeating Valentina Gunina (Russia).  

Aleksandra Goryachkina beat Alexandra Kosteniuk, Alina Kashlinskaya (all from Russia) outplayed Pia Cramling (Sweden), while the games Harika - Paehtz and Sebag - Stefanova were drawn.

1. Humpy Koneru - 7
2. Ju Wenjun - 6.5
3. Aleksandra Goryachkina - 6
4. Kateryna Lagno - 5.5
5-7. Valentina Gunina, Elisabeth Paehtz, Dronavalli Harika - 4.5
8-9. Alina Kashlinskaya, Alexandra Kosteniuk - 3.5
10-11. Marie Sebag, Antoaneta Stefanova - 3
12. Pia Cramling - 2.5.

Round 10 pairings: 

Ju Wenjun - Goryachkina, Cramling - Kosteniuk, Stefanova - Kashlinskaya, Paehtz - Sebag, Gunina - Harika, Lagno - Koneru. 

The games start at 3 p.m. The final 11th round will begin at 11 a.m. (Moscow time).

The prize fund is 80,000 euros.

A vast additional program is organized during the tournament. The Skolkovo Cup, a stage of the Russian Rapid Grand Prix, will be held on September 21-22.
