Ian Nepomniachtchi Wins Silver Medal of FIDE World Rapid Championship

The winner is Nodirbek Abdusattorov.

The final games of the FIDE World Rapid Championship were played in the capital of Poland. 

Nodirbek Abdusattorov (Uzbekistan), Ian Nepomniachtchi (CFR), Magnus Carlsen (Norway), and Fabiano Caruana (USA) scored 9.5 points each in 13 rounds. The players are placed according to their tie-breaks. 

According to the Regulations, Ian Nepomniachtchi and Nodirbek Abdusattorov, the players with the highest tie-breaks, determine the winner in a play-off match. The first game, where the Russian had the white pieces, ended in a draw. The 17-year-old Abdusattorov won the second encounter to become the world rapid champion.
