Wednesday, December 8, game ten of the Carlsen-Nepomniachtchi World Championship match was played at the Expo 2020 Dubai. Amna Al Qubaisi, the first Emirati female racing driver, made the symbolic first move for the World Champion.

The game opened into the Petrov’s Defence. With each draw bringing him closer to the match victory, Magnus Carlsen played with safety first in mind and offered the trade of queens early in the game. That day, no significant events happened over the board as the opponents would not keep from exchanging their pieces, and the positional evaluation never deviated from equality. As soon as they made 40 moves required by the regulations, the grandmasters agreed to a draw.

The overall score became 6.5-3.5 in the world champion’s favour, who needs to score one point in the remaining four games to win the match. Thursday, December 9, is a rest day. Game 11 is taking place Friday, December 10, with Ian Nepomniachtchi playing the white pieces.
