Game 6 of FIDE Women's World Championship Match is Drawn

The score is 3-3.

The 6th game of the FIDE Women's World Championship Match between Ju Wenjun (China) and Aleksandra Goryachkina (Russia) was played in Shanghai on January 12.

FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich and Deputy Party Secretary of the Shanghai Sports Bureau Lu Lin made first symbolic moves.

Like in the second game of the Match, the opponents opted for an actual line of Berlin with 5.Re1. White decided to grab the space on the queenside but it didn't benefit her much. There was a solid, typical for this line play going on, but step by step Black seized the initiative and organized an assault on the kingside. Still, the Russian player didn't manage to strengthen her position much and after the rooks and queens were exchanged, the play transferred to the endgame with minor pieces, which was slightly better for Black. Ju Wenjun was defending precisely, and a draw was agreed after Black's 105th move.

The score is 3-3.

After this game, the Match moves to Vladivostok, Russia. The Opening ceremony will be held on January 15.

The match days are January 16-17, 19-20, and 22-23. The games will start at 3:30 PM local time (08:30 AM Moscow time). The tie-break (if needed) will be played on January 24. The closing ceremony will take place on January 24.

The venue in Vladivostok will be the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University on the Russky Island.

A big additional programme will be organized during the Match in Vladivostok.
