Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov Visits Central Chess Club

To meet with the heads of the French companies.

On May 17, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov met with the heads of the French companies operating in Russia. The event took place at the Central Chess Club in Moscow. The distinguished guest was greeted by the Chess Federation of Russia’s President Andrey Filatov and the President of the Franco-Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Emmanuel Quidet.

The Minister stressed in his speech that France has traditionally been a key foreign partner with whom Russia intends to continue developing comprehensive relations — the field of trade and economic cooperation being among them. He confirmed Russia's interest in attracting French investment into the domestic economy.

The Franco-Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry's President E. Quidet noted that notwithstanding the complex geopolitical situation and coronavirus pandemic restrictions across the world, French entrepreneurs are ready for close cooperation with Russia, which includes promising areas related to high technologies implementation and transition of enterprises to innovative development rails.

An interesting conversation took place during the meeting about the state and prospects of Russian-French business partnership and Russia-EU relations.
