The first FIDE Online Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities is being held from November 20 till December 3 on Tornelo, a web-based tournament management software.

The tournament consists of two stages. The first one is a 7 round Swiss System, from which the best 4 teams qualify for the play-off phase.

60 teams from 44 countries took part in the Swiss tournament. Russia was represented by three teams.

The first Russian team, which consisted of FM Stanislav Babarykin, IM Andrei Obodchuk, FM Evgeniy Suslov, WIM Irina Kaydanovich, Alexey Smirnov, WFM Svetlana Gerasimova, and Denis Palin, scored 13 match points in seven rounds to take the first place in the event.

Ukraine-3 is 1 point behind. Poland-1 is third with 11 points, while Poland 2 is fourth with 10 points.

These four teams will determine the champion in the knock-out event. They will play a double-round semifinal (November 29-30). The two best teams will advance to the finals, while the two others will compete for third prize. The final has been purposely scheduled for December 3, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

November 28 is a rest day. The final rankings of the Swiss tournament will be published when the Fair Play control has been concluded, approximately after 24 hours.

The Russian teams were supported by the KazRosGaz company during their preparation.
