First Round in Older Groups of Russian Youth Championships Played in Sochi

The first round of the Russian Youth Championships among boys and girls under 15, 17 and 19 years old, the Russian Junior Championships under 21 years old, and the all-Russian competition "First League" among boys under 15 years old, and boys and girls under 17 years old was played in Sochi on April 21. 

711 young players are taking part in the competitions. The tournaments are 9-round Swiss events. This year, the Russian junior U21 championships are also played in the Swiss system. The games are broadcast with a 30-minute delay, according to the decision of the Chief Arbiter Vladimir Staratorzhskiy. 

Volodar Murzin, Rudik Makarian, Stefan Pogosyan, Gleb Dudin, Erik Obgolts, Andrey Tsvetkov, Martin Stukan, Nikolay Marchenko, Ilya Makoveev won their games in the open event. In the girls' tournament, Zarina Shafigullina, Ekaterina Nasyrova, Anna Asonasieva, Ekaterina Goltseva, Adriana Sakorenko, Mariya Nosacheva, Darya Bogdanova, Aliona Garmash, and Anna Kochukova celebrated victories at the start.
