FGC UES Organizes Traditional Tournament in Memory of M. Botvinnik

The 7th open tournament in memory of the 6th World Champion and power engineering specialist Mikhail Botvinnik was held in the Scientific and Technical Centre of the Federal Grid Company of Unified Energy System (FGC UES). 

Such well-known chess players as Ian Nepomniachtchi and Valentina Gunina, as well as Executive Director of the Russian Chess Federation Mark Glukhovsky visited the event. 

33 teams - representatives of the Russian Energy sector - took part in the tournament. 

Team results: 1. IDGC of Siberia, 2. IDGC of Volga, 3. Moscow Power Engineering Institute.    

Individual results: 1. Mikhail Lushenkov, 2. Vladimir Kosyrev, 3. Alexander Manuylov. 

FGC UES is the general sponsor of the Russian national chess teams since 2016. The teams took part in the 42nd World Chess Olympiad in Baku, the World and European Team Championships in 2017; many youth events, including Belaya Ladya, and a traditional Aeroflot Open were organized with the company’s support.  
 
FGC UES’s tournament in memory of Mikhail Botvinnik has been held since 2011.
