Evgeny Alekseev Wins Viktor Korchnoi Memorial
A stage of the Russian Cup finished in Saint Petersburg.
On August 24, the final games of Viktor Korchnoi Memorial, a stage of the Russian Cup, were played in Saint Petersburg. The tournament was a part of the open chess festival St Petersburg Summer-2017. Evgeny Alekseev, Dmitry Kokarev, Aleksandr Shimanov (all from Russia) and Gata Kamsky (USA) have scored 7.5 points out of 9. Due to his superior tie-break Alekseev became the winner of the tournament. Kokarev is second, while Kamsky is third.
Anastasia Bodnaruk showed the best result among women - 6 points.
Final standings
On August 26-27, a stage of the RAPID Grand Prix within the framework of the chess festival will be held. The line-up is quite strong as the rating favourites are Vladislav Artemiev, Sergei Rublevsky, Gata Kamsky, Alexander Moroxevich, Daniil Dubov and other well-known grandmasters.
