School Teachers Seminar Took Place in Chita

Governor Konstantin Ilkovsky supports the project.

A seminar for school teachers aiming at teaching chess at schools took place on January 16-21 in Chita. The teachers received new textbook and workbook developed by a group of authors under the guidance of IM Vladimir Barsky. The project is supported by Elena and Gennady Timchenko Charity Foundation. 



Chess teachers from Pskov Region came to Transbaikal area to share their experience – chess is a curriculum project in schools of Pskov Region since 2008, and currently covers 90% of all local schools. Dmitry Shakhov, chairman of Pskov regional chess federation, Yury Bogashev, principal of the chess teaching contest-winning gymnasium (the contest is founded by RCF in 2014), and Alexander Shpak, chess teacher, held speeches at the meeting. 

Zabaikalsky Krai Governor Konstantin Ilkovsky met Dmitry Shakhov and discussed future development of Chess at Schools project in his region. 

The seminal was attended by 70 teachers from 35 municipal educational institutions of the Zabaikalsky Krai. After the seminar the participants received certificates and textbooks, and their institutions were given chess equipment.
