Chess Starts Enter Field of Skilling Open

This is the first event of the Champions Chess Tour.


The first games of the Skilling Open, the first event of Magnus Carlsen's $1.5 million Champions Chess Tour, will be played on November 22 on Chess24.com.

16 world chess stars will play a single round-robin event (November 22-24). Eight best players will qualify for the knock-out stage (November 25-30). 

Lineup: Magnus Carlsen (Norway, rapid rating - 2881), Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (France, 2860), Ding Liren (China, 2836), Hikaru Nakamura (USA, 2829), Ian Nepomniachtchi (Russia, 2778), Levon Aronian (Armenia, 2778), Jan-Krzysztof Duda (Poland, 2774), Teimour Radjabov (Azerbaijan, 2758), Le Quang Liem (Vietnam, 2744), Peter Svidler (Russia, 2742), Wesley So (USA, 2741), Anish Giri (Netherlands, 2731), Sergey Karjakin (Russia, 2709), Alireza Firouzja (FIDE, 2703), David Anton (Spain, 2667), and Santosh Vidit (India, 2636).

The time control is 15 minutes for all moves, with a 10-second increment from move 1. The rounds start at 8 PM (Moscow time). 

The prize fund is $100,000, with a $30,000 top prize.
