Chess Federation of Moscow Wins Russian Women's Team Championship

Mednyi Vsadnik made the first draw as a champion.


The final ninth round of the Russian Team Championships among men and women was played in the Grand Hotel Zhemchuzhina in Sochi on November 28.

In the open tournament, Mednyi Vsadnik from Saint Petersburg, which had secured the victory with one round to spare, played CPRF from Moscow. The champions didn't manage to win the ninth match in a row. At first, they took the lead as Aleksandr Shimanov defeated Alexey Korneev, but Serge Rublevsky equalised the score by beating Vladimir Fedoseev. Other games were drawn, and the match finished 3-3. 

Molodezhka (Tyumen region) made a draw with M. Botvinnik school (Moscow). Thanks to this result, the Chess Federation of Moscow (CFM) cut its way to second place by defeating Achimgaz YNAO 5-1. Cimmeria (Crimea) lost to SShOR (Saint Petersburg) 2-4, while Ladya (Tatarstan) smashed Moscow region 5.5-0.5.

Turbonasos (Voronezh region) - CFM 0.5-3.5, Achimgaz YNAO - Ugra 0.5-3.5, SShOR-1 - Chess Federation of the Nizhny Novgorod region 1.5-2.5, Belgorod State University - Cimmeria 0-4, Moscow region - Amazones Yadda (Kursk region) 2.5-1.5, SShOR-2 - Toplar (Bashkortostan) 4-0.  

An unexpected loss of the SShOR-1 left the team from Saint Petersburg behind the medals stand.
