Oleg Chernikov Memorial Finished in Nizhny Novgorod

FM Ilya Dudukin took the first place.

The first tournament in memory of Oleg Chernikov, former world champion among seniors and one of the strongest trainers of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, took place in Junior Sports School #3 in Nizhny Novgorod.

The event gathered 79 players, which is symbolic, as Oleg Leonidovich would turn 79 these days. At the opening ceremony, Konstantin Vinokurov, Valentin Sorokin, Ilya Zavivaev, and Svetlana Chernikova shared their memories about the grandmaster, who passed away in February this year.

FM Ilya Dudukin from Nizhny Novgorod finished first with 7.5 points in 9 games, candidate masters Anton Yaschenko and Evgeny Pristalov shared the second place with 7 points.

Candidate master Oleg Repin showed the best result among seniors – 6.5 points, Dmitry Goltsev became the strongest junior with 6.5 points, and WFM Alyona Korchagina was the best among women with 6 points.

Student of the JSS #3 Egor Baskanov wrote an article about the grandmaster, and sports journalist Alexey Rokotov published another article dedicated to the event in the Worker of Nizhny Novgorod newspaper.
