Denis Khismatullin Wins Nightly Blitz Marathon

The event was a part of the traditional chess festival in St. Petersburg.

"Petersburg Summer", a traditional chess festival, is underway in St. Petersburg. The nightly blitz marathon with 40,000 roubles prize fund was attended by more than 50 players from six countries, including six grandmasters. Farrukh Amonatov (Tadjikistan) was the top seed.

Denis Khismatullin finished first with 45 points. Farrukh Amonatov was second with 44.5 points. Mikhail Mozharov was third with 44 points. 

The festival will be concluded on the weekend with a Russian Rapid Grand Prxi stage. A two-day event with 550,000 roubles prize fund attracted many big names, including Peter Svidler, Alexei Shirov, Sergey Rublevsky, Ernesto Inarkiev, Evgeny Alekseev, Vladimir Fedoseev, etc.

The festival ends on Sunday, August 30.
