Alexandra Kosteniuk Leads Race at FIDE World Rapid Women's Championship

The second match day of the FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Championships has finished in Warsaw. 

The world champion Magnus Carlsen (Norway) has taken the lead in the open event with 7.5 points scored. The Russians Ian Nepomniachtchi and Alexander Grischuk, as well as Nodirbek Abdusattorov (Uzbekistan), are trailing by half a point. 

Alexandra Kosteniuk (CFR) has pulled ahead in the women's section by scoring 7.5 points out of 8. Polina Shuvalova, Kateryna Lagno (both representing CFR), Humpy Koneru (India), Gulnar Mammadova (Azerbaijan), Assel Serikbay, and Bibisara Assaubayeva (both from Kazakhstan) are 1.5 points behind.

The final rounds (four in the open championship and three in the women's) will be played on Tuesday, the 28th of December.
