Aleksei Pridorozhni Wins Russian Blitz Championship

Daria Voit shined in the women's section.


Friday, October 14, the Zhemchuzhina Grand Hotel in Sochi hosted the individual Russian Blitz Championships among men and women. Both tournaments ran to the Swiss system in 13 rounds, with 3+2 time control. 

Celebrating success in the open section with 11 points out of 13 (with 150 participants) was grandmaster Aleksei Pridorozhni. Vladislav Artemiev and Vladimir Dobrov finished second and third with 10.5 and 9.5 points respectively. Additional tiebreakers placed the next players as follows: 4. Pavel Smirnov, 5. Artyom Timofeev, 6. Alexandr Triapishko, 7. Boris Savchenko, 8. Evgeny Tomashevsky, and 9. Vladimir Zakhartsov.


Grandmaster Daria Voit won the women's championship (with 112 participants) with 11 out of 13 points. The second place is with Marina Guseva – 10 points, the third – with Olga Girya – with 9.5 points. Additional tiebreakers did not favour Elena Tomilova and Alina Bivol.  


Saturday, October 15, the individual Russian Rapid Championships among men and women start at the Grand Hotel Zhemchuzhina.
