44th Chess Olympiad Not to Take Place in Russia

FIDE Council has decided that the 44th Chess Olympiad, including the competition for players with disabilities, as well as the FIDE Congress, will not take place in Russia.
"We will do our utmost to find another organizer for the Olympiad and, in due time, provide information on the location and dates of FIDE Congress 2022", reports the organisation in its official statement.
The 44th Chess Olympiad was to take place in Moscow from the 26th of July to the 8th of August, and the the competition for players with disabilities in Khanty-Mansiysk on 19-26 July.
