Vladislav Vorotnikov Wins European Senior Championship in 65+ Group

The European Senior Championships finished in Drammen, Norway.  

Simen Agdestein (Norway) won the European Senior Championship in 50+ group with 8 points out of 9. Conny Holst (Sweden) is second with 7.5 points. Peter Gayson (England) won bronze with 6 points. 

Brigitte Burchardt (Germany) became the European champion among women in 50+ age category with 6.5 points out of 8. Olga Birkholz (Germany) won the silver medal with 5.5 points. Sylvia Johnson (Norway) is third with 5 points. 

Men and women played together in the 65+ group. Vladislav Vorotnikov (Russia) became the European senior championship having scored 6.5 points. Thanks to his superior tie-break, he winner edged out Askell Karason (2nd place, Iceland), Nils-Gustaf Renman (3rd place, Sweden), and Hans Werner Ackermann (4th place, Germany). 

The 5th world women's champion Nona Gaprindashvili (Georgia), who scored 5.5 points, won the women's event. Elena Fatalibekova (Russia) is second sue to inferior tie-break.
