Vitiugov, Tomashevsky and Inarkiev Lead Russian Championship Supefinal

Olga Girya maintains leadership in the women's event.


The ninth round of the Russian Championships Superfinals was played in Izhevsk on August 20. In the open event, Ernesto Inarkiev managed to win a theoretically drawn endgame against Alexey Sarana. The games Dreev - Alekseenko, Vitiugov - Jakovenko, Tomashevsky - Predke, Fedoseev - Motylev, were Matlakov - Artemiev.

Inarkiev - Artemiev, Motylev - Matlakov, Predke - Fedoseev, Jakovenko - Tomashevsky, Alekseenko - Vitiugov, Sarana - Dreev.

In the women's event, Polina Shuvalova caught in a mating net Zarina Shafigullina's king. Daria Charochkina defeated Elena Tomilova by creating a counter blow in the centre. Margarita Potapova converted an edge in the endgame with Anastasia Bodnaruk. Valentina Gunina managed to upset Alexandra Kosteniuk in a crazy game. Aleksandra Goryachkina beat Olga Girya with the white pieces. The game Pogonina - Kashlinskaya ended in a draw.
