Traditional Festival Starts in Saint Petersburg

Program includes three big tournaments.


The International chess festival St. Petersburg Summer started on August 15th in the Northern capital of Russia. The program includes three events: a stage of the Russian Youth Cup, Viktor Korchnoi Memorial - a stage of the Russian Cup, and a stage of the Rapid Grand Prix of Russia.  

234 young chess players from various regions of Russia are taking part in the children's competition. Viktor Korchnoi Memorial has attracted 268 participants from 21 countries including Egypt, France, Germany, India, Iceland, USA, and Vietnam. 25 grandmasters, with Gata Kamsky as a top seed, are competing in the event this year.
