Tata Steel Chess India: Hikaru Nakamura Wins First Round of Blitz

The first round of the blitz tournament of the Tata Steel Chess India tournament in Kolkata took place on November 13. Before it the chess players played a rapid event with the following outcome: 1. Hikaru Nakamura (USA) - 6/9, 2-3. Levon Aronian (Armenia), Pentala Harikrishna (India) - 5.5, 4-5. Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (Azerbaijan), Wesley So (USA) - 5, 6. Sergey Karjakin (Russia) - 4.5, 7-8. Viswanathan Anand, Santosh Gujrathi Vidit - 4, 9. Nihal Sarin (India) - 3, 10. Surya Shekhar Ganguly (all from India) - 2.5. 

Current standings in blitz: 1. Hikaru Nakamura - 6.5/9, 2. Wesley So - 6, 3. Levon Aronian - 5.5, 4-5. Viswanathan Anand, Pentala Harikrishna - 5, 6-7. Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Santosh Gujrathi Vidit - 4, 8. R. Praggnanandhaa - 3.5, 9. Sergey Karjakin - 3, 10. Surya Shekhar Ganguly - 2.5.

The second half go the blitz tournament will be played on November 15.
