Russian U9 Championship Opens in Kostroma
Young artists greet young chess players.
On May 24, the 18th Russian youth championship among boys and girls under 9 years old was officially opened in Kostroma. Chess players, their parents and coaches were greeted by the representatives of the city administration and sports committee as well as chess federations of Russia and Kostroma. Young artists presented several bright performances including a brilliant "chess defile" by children from local kindergartens.
More than 650 participants are going to take part in the Russian U9 championship. A vast sports and cultural program awaits young players and the tournament's guests.
