Russian Players Win Five Medals of World Cadets Championship in Spain

Tournaments were played in U8, U10 and U12 age categories.


The World Cadet Chess Championship finished in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. The Championships were held for the age groups U08, U10 and U12, Girls and Open. A record number of 851 participants from 86 federations took part in the Championships. There are 542 players in open section and 309 players in girls' section.

Russian chess players won five medals: Veronika Iudina, Volodar Murzin, and Alexandra Shvedova took siver ones, while Maksim Volkov and Emilia Zavivaeva became bronze medalists.

U08 Open:

1. Yuvraj Chennareddy (USA) - 10.5, 2. Jahandar Azadaliyev (Azerbaijan) - 9, 3. Khumoyun   Begmuratov (Uzbekistan) - 8.5; 

U08 Girls:

1. Zhao Yunqing (China) - 9.5, 2. Veronika Iudina (Russia) - 9, 3. Evelyn Qiao (USA) - 8.5; 

U10 Open:

1. Jin Yueheng (Cina) - 9, 2. Erick Zhao (USA) - 9, 3. Maksim Volkov (Russia) - 8.5; 

U10 Girls:

1. Samantha Edithso (Indonesia) - 9, 2. Alexandra Shvedova (Russia) - 8.5, 3. Chen Yining (China) - 8.5;

U12 Open: 

1. D. Gukesh (India) - 10, 2. Volodar Murzin (Russia) - 8.5, 3. Nico Chasin (USA) - 8.5; 

U12 Girls:

1. Shri B Savitha (India) - 10, 2. Umida Omonova (Uzbekistan) - 9.5, 3. Emilia Zavivaeva (Russia) - 8.
