RCF Chess Museum Takes Part in All-Russian Action Night of Museums

Simuls given by Olga Girya and Alexander Motylev.

It is for the second year in a row that the RCF Chess Museum has been part of the All-Russian action event Night of Museums that took place over this Saturday to Sunday night. It is the only time of the year when the cultural institutions keep on working overnight all over the country, and the entrance is free of charge at that. The event's mascot is a wise owl, and the motto is Art Unites.

All in all, the chess museum's curators — Tatiana Kolesnikovich and Dmitry Oleinikov — gave four tours of the museum for over 200 people. Olga Girya, an Olympic champion, as well as World and European champion as part of the Russian team, gave a simul for everyone willing to participate. After a while, arriving to support her was the individual Russian and European champion and a coach of the Russian men's team Alexander Motylev.

The simul participants were awarded diplomas and chess books: M. Shereshevsky, The Shereshevsky Method to Improve in Chessand Modern Chess: A View from the Inside. 2018.

The event in the Central Chess Club was part of the additional program to the FIDE Grand Prix stage taking place in Moscow from May 17 to 29. The RCF Executive Director Mark Glukhovsky welcomed all chess fans to visit this fascinating tournament and listen to the comments by Sergey Shipov and participants of the competition.
