Pavel Kolobkov Celebrates 50th Anniversary

Our congratulations to the Russian Minister of Sport!


Pavel Kolobkov, the Olympic, World and European champion in fencing and épée, Minister of Sport of the Russian Federation, celebrates his 50th anniversary on September 22.

On this remarkable day, let me pay tribute to your high personal and professional qualities and express my deepest gratitude for your help in developing the Russian sport. 

Thanks to your active support, the key international chess events are being held in our country, and the Russian chess players show high results and win medals in the World Chess Olympiads as well as World and European championships. 

Owing to your work, chess has become not only a firm basis for the intellectual development of Russian society but also a necessary bridge for international cooperation.

Pavel Kolobkov was born on 22 September 1969 in Moscow. In 1991, he graduated from the State Central Institute of Physical Education of the Lenin Order with a degree in physical education, and the Moscow State Law Academy with a degree in law.
 
Winner of the 27th Olympic Games in Sydney in individual Épée event (2000). He participated in five Olympic Games and won medals in all of them. The six-time World champion and the two-time European champion. Merited master of sport. Pavel Kolobkov was decorated with the Medal of the Order “For Merits to the Fatherland” 2nd category, the Medal of the Order “For Merits to the Fatherland” 1st category, the Order of Honour and the Presidential Certificate of Merit. Actual State Councillor of the Russian Federation, 2nd class. Colonel.
