Olga Girya Keeps Leading Superfinal of Russian Women's Championship

Six players share first place in the open event.

 
The sixth round of the Russian Championships Superfinals was played in Izhevsk on August 16.

Nikita Vitiugov celebrated his first victory in the open event having defeated Vladislav Artemiev with the black pieces. The grandmaster from Saint Petersburg got a better position from the opening and methodically converted his edge to win the game. 

Kirill Alekseenko beat Dmitry Jakovenko. In the key moment of the game, White bet on a passer, but it wasn't the right decision as Black managed to create an assault on the kingside. Jakovenko resigned right before move 40. 

The games Inarkiev - Fedoseev, Motylev - Dreev, Matlakov - Tomashevsky, and Predke - Sarana were drawn.

Alekseenko - Inarkiev, Sarana - Jakovenko, Dreev - Predke, Vitiugov - Motylev, Tomashevsky - Artemiev, Fedoseev - Matlakov.

Olga Girya won her game against Valentina Gunina to maintain the sole leadership in the women's event. The three-time Russian champion blundered a rook in a severe time trouble. 

Aleksandra Goryachkina outplayed Alina Kashlinskaya as Black by organizing a crushing attack after her opponent's mistake.  

Alexandra Kosteniuk, who had Black against Polina Shuvalova, sacrificed a piece but didn't get enough compensation. White countered all the threats and won. 

Natalija Pogonina defeated Daria Charochkina is a tough struggle. White made a decisive mistake on move 41, and the reigning Russian champion converted her advantage. 

The games Bodnaruk - Tomilova and Potapova - Shafigullina were drawn.
