Moscow Chess Team Leads Russian Rapid Championship

A. Karpov Chess School and the Saint Petersburg team head the women's section.


The Russian Team Rapid Championships started in the Grand Hotel Zhemchuzhina in Sochi on October 18. Five rounds were played on the first day. 

The Moscow Chess Team has taken the lead in the open event having scored 10 match points. Yamal (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug), Regulars (Krasnodar region), Southern Ural (Chelyabinsk region), and Chess Federation of the Nizhny Novgorod region are 2 points behind. 

In the women's section, the leaders with 8 match points are Chess School of Anatoly Karpov (Moscow) and the Olympic reserve school in chess and chequers (Saint Petersburg).

In the veterans event, the race is headed by the Grey-haired Ural team - 9 points. Victory (Moscow) is trailing by 1 point. 

Four final rounds will be played on October 19.
