Ju Wenjun Maintains Leadership at FIDE Women's Grand Prix Leg

Round 7 games were played in Skolkovo.


The seventh round of the FIDE Women's Grand Prix leg was played in the Skolkovo business centre on September 18. 

The women's world champion Ju Wenjun defeated Valentina Gunina to maintain the sole leadership in the tournament with 5.5 points. Humpy Koneru won against Antoaneta Stefanova and now occupies the second place. Dronavalli Harika beat Pia Cramling, while Alexandra Kosteniuk bested Alina Kashlinskaya. The games Lagno - Paehtz and Sebag - Goryachkina, were drawn.

10-11. Alina Kashlinskaya, Antoaneta Stefanova - 2

WIM Polina Shuvalova gave a simultaneous exhibition for young chess players. 

Round 8 pairings: 

Ju Wenjun - Kosteniuk, Goryachkina - Kashlinskaya, Cramling - Sebag, Stefanova - Harika, Paehtz - Koneru, Gunina - Lagno. 

The games start at 3 p.m. The final 11th round will begin at 11 a.m. (Moscow time).

The prize fund is 80,000 euros.

A vast additional program is organized during the tournament. The Skolkovo Cup, a stage of the Russian Rapid Grand Prix, will be held on September 21-22.
