Ian Nepomniachtchi Defeats Radoslaw Wojtaszek in Semifinal of Moscow Grand Prix Leg
Russian final to start on May 27.
The tie-break of the semifinal match between Ian Nepomniachtchi (Russia) and Radoslaw Wojtaszek (Poland) was played in the Central Chess Club on May 25. The first symbolic move for the Polish grandmaster was made by a well-known Russian basketball player, European champion Sergei Bykov.
Both rapid games were drawn as well as the first "10+10" encounter, but Ian Nepomniachtchi won the second ten-minute game to win the match 3.5-2.5.
May 26 is the tournament's free day.
The first game of the final match between Alexander Grischuk, who will have the white pieces, and Ian Nepomniahctchi will be played on May 27.
