Hikaru Nakamura Received a Special Prize for His Hat-trick in Zurich

The ceremony took place at the RCF Chess Museum.

On Wednesday, May 17, an American grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura, the threefold winner of Zurich Chess Challenge super tournaments (in 2015, 2016, and 2017), received a special prize for his prominent achievement. The award, which was set up by the tournament’s main organizer, a Russian businessman Oleg Skvortsov and his wife Natalya Shevando, is an exclusive Rolex watch. 

The ceremony took place at the RCF Chess Museum and was also attended by the repeated World Women’s Champion Hou Yifan. The prize was presented to Nakamura by Natalya Shevando. Hikaru thanked Natalya Shevando and Oleg Skvorstov for the reward and promised to try his best to win his favorite tournament for the forth time. 

The honored guests took a tour of the RCF Chess Museum and the whole mansion on Gogolevsky Boulevard. The excursion was arranged by Dmitry Oleinikov, a candidate of historical sciences.
