Globus and Odlar Yurdu Maintain Leadership at ECC

Nona and Odlar Yurdu head the women’s event.

On October 12, the fifth round of the European Club Cup was played in Antalya, Turkey. The leaders of the open section - Globus (Russia) and  Odlar Yurdu (Azerbaijan) - drew their match 3-3. The Russian Medniy Vsadnik defeated LSG Leiden (Netherlands) 5.5-0.5. ShSM Legacy Square Capital lost to AVE Novy Bor (Czech Republic) 2.5-3.5.

With two rounds to go, the leaders are still Globus and Odlar Yurdu: both of them have scored 9 match points. Alkaloid (Macedonia), AVE Novy Bor, Medniy Vsadnik, and Csm Baia Mare (Romania) are trailing by 1 point. In round 6, Globus will face Alkaloid, while Medniy Vsadnik’s rival will be Odlar Yurdu.     

In the women’s section, the Russian club ShSM Legacy Square Capital lost to Odlar Yurdu (Azerbaijan) 1.5-2.5. Ugra bested Marmara (Turkey) 3-1.

Batumi Chess Club NONA (Georgia) and Odlar Yurdu, both having scored 8 points, are leading the pack. Ugra has scored 7 points, while ShSM Legacy Square Capital has got 6 points. In the next round, Ugra will play against Odlar Yurdu, while the team from Moscow will face Batumi Chess Club NONA.
