Andrey Filatov: Russian Women's Team Under the Leadership of Sergei Rublevsky is a Unique Team

RCF President congratulates Russian players with a victory at WTCC in Khanty-Mansiysk.

The Russian women's national team won the World Team Chess Championship in Khanty-Mansiysk. President of the Russian Chess Federation, FIDE Vice-President congratulates the team with their victory.

I would like to congratulate our girls who won gold medals for the first time in the history of the world team championships. The Russian women's national team under the leadership of Sergei Rublevsky is a unique team. They are three-time winners of the Olympic gold, winners of the European Championship gold, and now of the World Championship gold. We are especially happy that it happened in our homeland. And although the country has been closely following the FIFA Confederations Cup held during the same period, we felt the support of the whole of Russia.

Our «golden» players showed a measured game throughout the Championship and defeated their principal rivals, namely the teams of China, Georgia, Poland and Ukraine. Our women’s team now has a full range of the World Team Championship medals, including bronze, silver and gold, to their credit.

Congratulations to the team of our «golden» girls and to all chess fans, on this great achievement.
