Aleksandra Goryachkina Holds 2.5-Point-Lead at Women's Candidates Tournament

The game with Kateryna Lagno is drawn.


The tenth round of the FIDE Women's Candidates Tournament was played in Kazan on June 12. The central encounter of the round K. Lagno - A. Goryachkina ended in a draw. Alexandra Kosteniuk defeated Valentina Gunina, while the games A. Muzychuk – Tan Zhongyi and M. Muzychuk – N. Dzagnidze were drawn.

The winner of the FIDE Women’s Candidates Tournament qualifies for the World Championship Match with Ju Wenjun (China), where both players will compete for a total prize fund of €500,000, which is 150% percent bigger than in the previous championship match.

The organizers are FIDE, Russian Chess Federation, Government of the Republic of Tatarstan, Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Tatarstan, and city administration of Kazan.
